On October 26th, 2015 the first year Master’s students of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology majoring in Language Education took part in a meeting with the administrative staff of the language school «Interlingua», participating in the project «UNESCO Associated Schools» Russia.
The general director of the school, Ph.D., Associate Professor Elena Kikteva, the academic director, Ph.D., Associate Professor Elena Kuznetsova, and the academic director Irina Shchedrina told the students about the main idea of teaching in the language school which is the communicative approach to teaching languages in different age groups (little children, junior and high school students, adults). The students were particularly interested in the cooperation project of «Interlingua» in the international UNESCO programme «Education for the Future».
The students also attended an English class for young learners and examined the exhibits in the unique museum of toys «Helen and Teddy», which not only has great aesthetic, but didactic value as well because it presents interesting country study information and increases motivation to learn English.
The general director of the school Elena Kikteva, the head of the Master’s programme “Teaching foreign languages with the use of online technologies” Prof. Natalia Fenenko and the head of pedagogical practicum for Master’s students Associate Professor Marina Shcherbakova discussed the prospects of cooperation between the language school «Interlingua» and the Master’s programme and signed an agreement on holding educational and work practicum of Master’s students in the language school «Interlingua».
The academic director of the school Elena Kuznetsova proposed making the language school «Interlingua» an experimental base for testing the results of Master’s students’ research on the use of information technologies in language teaching.
