The seminar in the framework of the project at University of Caen — Lower Normandy (France)

After opening on 1st September 2015 the Master’s programme “Teaching languages with the use of online technologies” at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, the teachers working with the first group of master students continued their activities in the framework of the project “Developing the Teaching of European Languages: Modernising Language Teaching through the development of blended Masters Programmes” (544161-TEMPUS-1 -2013-1-UK-TEMPUS-JPCR Aston University). The next stage of the work was to take part in the training seminar on the development of evaluation criteria for measuring learning outcomes in the process of implementation of the new Master’s programme.

The seminar was held from 28th September to 2nd October 2015 at University of Caen — Lower Normandy (France), where the Tempus working group of Voronezh University was represented by the coordinator of the project from VSU, the Vice-Rector for Research and Information Prof. Vasily Popov, Senior Lecturer of the English Philology department Elena Chaika and Senior Lecturer of the French Philology Svetlana Bulgakova.

The participants of the seminar – members of the working groups of all universities of the consortium presented the results achieved during the implementation of the project in the form of opening new master’s programmes (Voronezh State University, Kiev National Linguistic University), introducing new disciplines into existing master’s programmes (Mykolayiv National University, Tyumen State University, Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University), and using the materials in the teaching of various disciplines (Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages).

The participants actively discussed the forms and types of evaluation criteria outputs of the master’s programme in the field of language education and decided to develop materials for the evaluation of educational achievements of students, as well as to determine the opinions of students and teachers of the materials developed for the programme.

The working groups also summed up the results of loading all the module materials on the e-platform of Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, identified preliminary terms of participation of teachers from universities of England, France and Germany in co-teaching at partner universities in Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, decided to launch a unified project Tempus site on the platform at Aston University, and also had a round-table talk with the master’s students of University of Caen — Lower Normandy.
