From 21 to 23 September, 2016 Voronezh University was visited by the Director of the Regional Institute for International Cooperation of the Tyumen State University, Dr. habil. in Philosophy, the Tempus project coordinator for the Russian Federation (544161-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-UK-TEMPUS-JPCR Aston University «Developing the Teaching of European Languages: Modernising Language Teaching through the Development of Blended Masters Programmes) Galina Telegina. Prof. G. Telegina is a member of the expert committee of the European Commission on the assessment and selection of applications for Tempus and Erasmus Mundus projects, as well as a visiting Professor at Albert-Ludwig University of Freiburg (Germany). The purpose of her visit was an audit of the project working group of the Voronezh State University.
On September 22, at the meeting with the rector of Voronezh University, Prof. Telegina gave a positive assessment of the implementation of the Tempus project in VSU and appreciated the organisation of the educational process on the master’s programme “Teaching languages with the use of online technologies.”
“The enthusiasm of the VSU teachers, our partners on the project, is impressive. I also appreciate the support of the university administration which is very important in this difficult, highly competitive work. The main role of Tempus projects is to open a new mentality that helps people learn to interact with each other. I think we should consider new areas of cooperation,” Galina Telegina said at the meeting.
During the meeting, the participants called for continued cooperation in the framework of the current project and for other activities in the framework of the projects of the European Commission and the British Council.
During her visit to VSU, Galina Telegina examined all the records on the project and held a series of consultations with the teachers involved in the educational process on the master’s program “Teaching languages with the use of online technologies” in the field of Language Education. She made proposals for the working group to be taken into account in the preparation of reporting documentation of the Tempus project.
In addition to formal meetings and discussions, the colleague from Tyumen University, Prof. Galina Telegina visited the museum of rare books and museum of the history of VSU, as well as the main historical and cultural attractions of the city of Voronezh and Voronezh region such as the first Peter the Great’s battle ship Goto Predestination, the Oldenburg Castle in Ramon in the Voronezh region and Dmitri Venevitinov’s estate in the village of Novozhivotinnoe. On all the tours and excursions, the guest from the partner-university was accompanied by the first year master’s students of the programme “Teaching languages with the use of online technologies” in the field of Language Education. For them, familiarity with the cultural and historical heritage of the Voronezh region was of professional and educational interest.
