Scientific-practical seminar in the Borisoglebsk branch of VSU

On March 24th, 2016 the Borisoglebsk branch of VSU held a regional scientific-practical seminar on the innovations in language education. The seminar was attended by language teachers of the department of philological disciplines and methodology of their teaching in the Borisoglebsk branch of VSU, students of the programme «Teacher education», and language teachers of secondary schools in Voronezh and Volgograd regions. The moderators of the seminar were the members of the TEMPUS project group Professor Natalia Fenenko and Senior lecturers Svetlana Bulgakova, Elena Chaika and Marina Shcherbakova.

The purpose of the seminar was the improvement of language teachers’ pedagogical skills on the basis of using innovation technology in the educational process.

The participants attended lectures on current issues of language education, on didactic problems in age pedagogy, and on the use of information and communication technologies and peculiarities of their implementation in the framework of the Master’s programme «Teaching foreign languages with the use of online technologies». The participants of the seminar showed great interest to the application of innovative technologies in teaching the module “English Language Improvement” (lecturer Elena Chaika) as well as to the development of network curriculum on the Moodle e-platform (lecturer Alexandre Tolstobrov). During the seminar, the lecturers answered numerous questions from the audience on topical issues of theory and practice of language teaching and the use of digital technologies in the educational process.

At the end of the seminar Marina Shcherbakova presented the participants with personal certificates and thanked the administration of VSU’s Borisoglebsk branch for the warm welcome. In turn, the head of planning and methodical department of the Borisoglebsk branch Elena Borisova pointed to the importance of the event for improving the quality of language education and expressed hope for continued cooperation on this issue.
